Domestic Energy Assessor Training
Property Career Skills (PCS) training and assessment packages will qualify you with the City and Guilds Level 3 Diploma in Domestic Energy Assessment – the required qualification you will need to produce EPCs. To find out more please click on the relevant links below or to the left.
From 1st August, every home that is put on the market for sale in England and Wales will need an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) as part of the Home Information Pack (HIP).
Each year it is estimated that millions of Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs) will be required - and that’s just for Home Information Packs (HIPs). It is also planned to introduce EPCs for rented and commercial property as well; this will mean many more millions are needed.
Energy Performance Certificates will give home buyers and sellers A to G ratings for their home’s energy efficiency to help cut carbon emissions and fuel bills. Our homes already account for 27% of the UK’s carbon emissions contributing to global climate change.
The EPC is designed to help homeowners reduce the environmental impact of their homes. The Energy Savings Trust estimates that by following the recommendations in an Energy Performance Certificate, an average of £300 a year can be saved in fuel bills.
Only those who are fully qualified and certificated will be allowed to prepare EPCs. There are currently two qualifications that will enable the holders to carry out EPCs for Home Information Packs; the Diploma in Home Inspection and the Diploma in Energy Assessment.
For these reasons anyone looking to retrain as a Domestic Energy Assessor (DEA) is likely to have a very lucrative and rewarding new career.
From The Royal Navy To Energy Assessor In No Time At All
Paul from Portsmouth left the Navy after 31 years and re-trained to become a DEA. Whilst in training a local company providing HIPs direct to Estate Agents offered him a career starting on £35,000. Paul said “I am really glad I made this career change, I’m enjoying a thoroughly rewarding and interesting job and I’d recommend it to people thinking of making the jump."
